If what I experienced last night was anything like what those do on Cupcake wars, or some sort of show where they have to race to beat the clock.... I do not ever want to do it again. Ever.

Of course, I waited till the last minute to do this. Which was my first issue.

Anyways, heres my finished project ( well partly finished I have to go back and finish the details and make it pretty today)

Peter Pan themed Crib Mobile. I will be removing the pink netting around it ( started to take it off last night as seen in the photos) and add my own ribbon around it. Missing is the jolly roger piece ( the ship)

All in all I had loads of fun creating this! And will be offering up in my etsy shop soon as a finished project

Day 3 & 4 of 30 Days of Crafting

Yesterday. Well, it was just blah. I did not get anything accomplished. Nothing.

So to make up for day 3 I will be doing 3 & 4 together.

I am going to be making washcloth mitt's with a Peter Pan theme AND a Peter Pan themed crib mobile.

I am doing this for a challenge that is due tomorrow and so this is perfect for that.

Day 2 of 30 days of Crafting

So at the end of this 30 days ill be sharing my pictures of all the things I have made. Its easier for me to do it all at once so i can set up a pretty backdrop and all that jazz.

Today, I am going to use this tutorial and make some jammy pants!

Here is the link to the tutorial. I have some cute fabric im going to use for these. I dont think ill be doing the drawstring part though, as I dont have a grommet hole punch anymore.

30 Days 30 Projects

In going through my numerous ( and I use that word with great emphasis) bookmarks, I have realized I have entirely too many things I want to do.... and not enough that I am DOING.

So I have given myself a challenge- create 30 items in 30 days- 1 a day.

Tomorrow 6/22 is going to be starting with this pattern located here. Ruffle Bloomer pants.

Through the Looking Glass- Rattle Fun

The other day, I was looking around for something new to add to my line from Stitch Me a Wish- Bubbles & Britches. And I came across some of the most adorable designs for rattles!

I am an embroidery and sewing person. And these are a super fun project. If you have an embroidery machine I highly suggest investing in these patterns. They are super cute, easy to stitch out, and a joy to make.

I have a whole list but I wanted to showcase the first one I did- Alice in Wonderland inspired Cheshire cat Rattle. These are available on my facebook page and will be on my etsy and website soon. 10.00 each plus shipping. They can be made as just plushies as well. Website is under construction :)

Fabric {love}

I could live in a fabric store. I am so at home there. I could sit for hours and pour over every bolt of fabric, seeing what I could create out of it, or just saying "I need that!"

Case in point, we went yesterday to look for curtain fabric for my sister in law for the nursery. And to see what else they had on sale.  I could have taken home 90 percent of the store.

Here's some fabric I picked up to work on:

Top fabric is for a crib sheet, middle not sure but so dang cute, and bottom is for a dress

 I fell in love with the military fabric pictured above. I had to have some. I am thinking of doing some small zipper bags ( makeup bags) with them and maybe something else. Just love it!

 And this fabric here, is for me! I love the brightness and boldness of the colors. Its a jersey knit so I am going to make a dress out of it for me and possibly a fold over top skirt.

And this last fabric i just loved. It was on sale as well, because all but the top was Valentine's fabric. So i had to get some to make some dresses or something for next year. The top ducky fabric I just thought was super cute. Maybe for some pants and a top if i have enough material.

Chevron is ADDICTING

In progress dress- used a brand new Garanimals top w/ yellow chevron cotton fabric and made a dress.

Looking to do something with the gray chevron posted. I thought about an anchor on the dress bottom and not sure about the top....

Owl Mobile- Part 1

I am addicted to looking up cute projects online.

You should see my bookmarked list. Its insane.

I came across the cutest owl mobile over at this site. I tried her template for the tree but it was a wee bit small. This is what I came up with when I used it. SO im modifying it a bit to fit my needs next go around.

I also came up with my owl template from looking at her pics. Which was a bit harder then i thought. And trust me, I have a few more to do to work at perfecting it. Anyways- I am going to be putting together this mobile as a test run to see how it goes. I think its cute.

( now, I do realize the eyes look a bit scary I am not used to doing that on my machine so next time ill hand sew it )

He is stuffed as well.

To make this entire mobile i have to make 4 of these and then the tree in the middle. I thought about doing the flowers as well but I'll see how it goes.

Newest washcloth bibs I put together tonight. Great news is that I have enough fabric left over ( pretty sure) to be able to make a 6 month pillow case dress AND a matching head band!

I have to say, I have never seen this pattern before, and it was very easy to make. These would make excellent gifts!

Here's my finished projects! I just used some washcloth's that I had bought for like 4 bucks a pack, and some of my scrap fabric I had. Turned out so cute!

PIllowcase Dress + link to tutorial

With the new arrival of my niece, I have been thrown into baby mode. Basically, I have been looking up more tutorials I average.

Yes. I already have an addiction. This has just made it about 1000 times worse. Thanks Casey and Brooke for popping out a girl, and not the boy as promised. Now I spend even MORE time on Pinterest and trolling the net for cute girl stuff to make. Thanks Chaney Reese. Its all your fault (But i love you anyways!!!)

So here's the dress I made tonight. It took me about 1.5 hours. Basically because it was my first time doing this pattern. And I am not used to following patterns. I actually enjoy using patterns from people , rather then the ones from the stores. I hate the tissue paper crap. I need to start getting some heavy duty paper to make my own patterns from those tissue patterns.

But that requires me to sit still for awhile and trace. Ick.

Anyways here's my 6 month old pillowcase dress. I went with the smallest size to allow me to see how difficult it was going to be. Loved the way it came out.

This used 1/2 yard of fabric i had laying in my stash. And i didnt even use it all. I also used some ribbon i had laying around. Voila!

This is the Tutorial. I followed it step by step. It made a world of difference ironing the fabric each step. The only step I do not like is the one where you sew the arms together its not very clear. And i didnt like the way I had to hem the bottom. Because it does not open up as stated once you sew up the arm holes. Id try sewing up the hem first and then the sides. I think it will make it cleaner and easier.

Minnie Mouse Dress DIY from Shirt / fabric

Just an FYI- this is the first time I have ever done this. And so its not 100 percent "professional" by any means.

Next time, I'll be doing a gather skirt instead of straight to give it more fullness. Im still not done with this one- I have to sew on the applique and make the bow applique to go on it as well.

Basically all I did -

Took a 2T Toddler Shirt- cut it off about halfway up.
Took a yard of fabric- pinned the fabric to the shirt right sides together. Cut with a little extra on the ends for a seam.
Sewed up the seam in the back wrong sides together. Then repinned the shirt to the skirt part.
Sewed a zig zag stitch to connect them rather then a straight stitch
Hemmed the end ( and fyi I have no toddlers. or kids for that matter right now, so i guessed on the length. Good thing with this is you can always cut and re-hem!)
Then added my appliques i cut out from the remaining fabric ( in this case the mouse ears and I used pinking sheers to give it a cute edge once i zig zag it on) Ill use black for the bow.

Ta da!

 

I had fun doing this. It was pretty darn easy. And a lot of fun to do.

DIY Anchor Onesie

My sister in law is due any day now with her first baby, a little boy, named Asher! They went with a nautical theme for the nursery ( and I have a post from the baby shower with what we did , but I cant find my pictures :/) so I decided to do a DIY onesie keeping with the theme.

This was incredibly easy to do. Especially for those that do not have am embroidery machine, or have no idea how to thread a needle ( or work a sewing machine)

I got the onesie on clearance for 1.50 at Wal-Mart. I used red felt I had on hand for the applique. You can use whatever you want. And Ultra Heat Bond. If you ARE a sewer you can skip the heat bond step, pin to the onesie and sew. I am still going to do a stitch around the applique to ensure it stays put. I love Ultra Heat Bond, but I don't trust it to hold up to things that are washed. A lot.

This is an Anchor that I found on a free clip art site, that we printed out to use for the diaper cake and decoration. I had my mom bring it to me.

All i did was use that, piece of felt, and then the piece of heat bond you see.

I fused the red felt to the ultra heat bond.

Then i used a red sharpie ( and fyi be careful it will get on your hands) because its all I had on hand to use to trace the anchor onto the felt without using a color that would show up if i made a boo boo.

Then cut out the anchor and voila! Ironed it onto the onesie. It was super easy, super fast, super cheap. Again I am going to stitch it down to make sure it holds.

Its fun for easy designs. Got a tshirt or onesie you want to dress up? Find a free clip art piece , print, and your off. I have some others im going to work on as well. Next being with cotton fabric!

Chore Chart for Kids

Found this while searching through stuff online. Its a free online chore chart for kiddo's. Teaches them the value of money.

Which got me to thinking. My mom used to use the "star" system with us (me and my brother) for our chores. Each star we got added up to one big prize we got each week. If we got so many stars over a period of time it meant that we would go out for pizza or something. Not that I can recall ever getting many of those.... I didnt like to clean.

But it seems to me that this is a good thing. Kids should do chores. And should be rewarded for things they do when they do a good job. A lot of people say its their job and they should do it and thats that. But I think kids deserve to earn something when they do a good job at taking out the trash, doing the dishes, making sure Fido has enough food.

I kinda like this one here. I think I am going to use it for myself!

Planning a Disney Vacation???

I adore Disney. I have been over 24 times in my lifetime :) And this is by far the best way to get some basic information for free to have to watch.

I love getting the new ones to see what they have updated. It gets me so excited to go again!!!

Thankful Jar

As I was looking at all the New Years posts, resolutions, ideas etc- one stood out. A Thankful Jar or Blessing Jar.

Concept is you write something each day you are thankful for, blessed with etc. And then at the end of the year go back and read all you have put in the jar.

I think this is a wonderful idea. I know I personally ask for so much, and do not take the time to just be thankful for the things that I have been given. So, here's my thankful jar for 2014. Starting today. I will put one thing on a piece of paper each day, and in the jar. It might just be that I got up and got a load of laundry done, or it might be something as big as paid off a credit card. But each day I will thank God for something he's allowed me to do.
